We are pleased to announce the appointment of Graham Partridge as Executive Director of the Australia Day Council of WA.
Graham brings a wealth of knowledge and experience, both national and international, to the organisation and is recognised as one of Australia’s leading and respected Chief Executive Officers. During the last 30 years Graham, and the organisations he has led, have received numerous honours and awards.
As a past State and National President of Local Government Managers Australia Graham was awarded the Local Government Medal, Local Government Manager’s highest honour.
The appointment in 2007 by WA Cabinet as Chairman of the Western Australian Sports Centre Trust, is testament to the regard in which Graham is held.

The 2008 Australia Day Lunch sponsored by Australia Post, brought together members of the West Australian business community to celebrate Australia Day at Government House Ballroom.
Australia Day is a time to reflect proudly on our achievements, and more importantly, celebrate the prospects of our bright future.
This exclusive annual Australia Day Lunch provided an opportunity for the business community to network whilst celebrating our great nation, our people, places and achievements.
His Excellency, Dr Ken Michael, Governor of WA delivered his Australia Day Address and the keynote speaker was Dr James Moody, General Manager CSIRO and from the ABC's New Inventors program. Guests enjoyed the best Margaret River produce and wines, a lively program of entertainment plus the announcement of the 2008 Australia Post Australian Legends Award.

Australia Day Ambassador Program
A former Australian of the Year, an AFL Coach and Young Innovative Engineer are three of the inaugural Australia Day Ambassadors heading off around WA to spread the Australia Day message next year.
Mr Tim Shanahan, Chairman of the Australia Day Council has announced that ten outstanding Western Australians have accepted the invitation to participate in the Woolworth’s sponsored Program.
These inspirational men and women will participate in Australia Day celebrations throughout WA from Karratha to Esperance and their willingness to support the initiative reflects their commitment to community values. They’ll be encouraged to take part in everything from presenting Premier’s Active Citizenship Awards to handling a set of tongs at the local BBQ.
The Shires and their visiting Ambassadors are:
- Esperance: Darren Lomman, Founder Dreamfit Foundation and WA Young Australian of the Year 2007
- Albany: Prof Fiona Woods, Australian of the Year 2005
- Bunbury: Tim Gossage, TV personality
- Mandurah: John Worsfold, Coach – West Coast Eagles
